Setting the sail numbers on the Optimist sailIntroductionSticking the sail numbers can give a headache. Following this simple steps you will have no problem. 1. Sail LettersUse a clean and flat place. Put the sail port side up (the luff to your left and leech to right). Trace a pencil line paralell to batten pocket and 45mm below it.
Let stick the G of ARG, first place it in the right position and distanced 50mm from leech in the nearest point. Draw little pencil marks. Stick the G.
One you have the G ready, position the R carefully aligned with the top pencil line. Distance it 45mm from the G letter. Draw pencil marks and stick the R. Same to the next letter A.
Now turn the sail to the starboard side up. Mark 125mm from other side letter. Place the new A following the top guideline.
Same procedure with 45mm distance. Your sail is almost ready.
2. Sail numbersNext place the starboard numbers. Trace a pencil guideline 45mm below the base letter line. Place the first number carefully distanced 50mm from the leech.
Same procedure distancing 45mm each number.
Now turn your sail again to port side up. The same way for the port numbers.
